The confetti was let off during the final song (Rolling In The Deep) and once Adele had left the stage everyone was rushing to grab as much confetti they could and stuff it into bags!
And ha ha wall lyrics typed on a type writer and hand edited by pete and carl, signed pete doherty ticket, red libertine jacket, libertine tattoo in pete doherty’s hand writing and Albion tattoo what pete wrote for me on the back of my ticket
This was fairly recent when I met Peter (again) at Hackney Empire. Please excuse the rotten face, as you can tell I was fairly excited. Me and Charlie waited all day at the back of Hackney Empire’s doors to hopefully meet Peter. However throughout the day we met the whole of the band (I will be posting these later on) which was phenomenal! Peter did his gig with a surprise Libertines gig at the end of it, the crowd went insane – it was two for the price of one!
The best venue in the Midlands and still going strong.
I spent many a Thursday night in the mid-90s taking advantage of the £1 entry fee and have seen pretty much all my favourite bands play there.
Here’s one of my bedroom walls which has posters of The Libertines, Babyshambles and Peter Doherty. On my shelf, there is a setlist from a Libertines gig in Birmingham alongside related vinyl. To the bottom left there is a signed ”You’re My Waterloo” lyric poster.
My Son and I waited outside Maidstone Studios after the recording of Later with Jools Holland hoping to see Pete, he saw us at the gates with an ink drawing I had done and quickly jumped out of his van to say hello and sign a copy of the picture, he was a real gentleman my son was absolutely delighted.
